Old KTM 390 Duke And RC 390 Get Retrofit Slipper Clutch

Now old KTM 390 Duke and RC 390 owners can retrofit the slipper clutch on their bikes for Rs. 9,000; the feature comes standard with the new models.

The old KTM 390 Duke and the RC 390 owners will be happy to know that now they can upgrade their bike with the slipper clutch technology. The conventional type clutch assembly can be replaced with the slipper type at any authorised KTM service centre for a cost of Rs. 9,000, excluding labour and other taxes.

The slipper clutch is a race-driven technology that is used in performance motorcycles to reduce the engine braking or back-torque. The technology assists the rider to decelerate the bike safely with aggressive downshifting from a good speed. Mostly, the situation comes while one carves a corner or when one has to perform a quick downshifting for a perfect entry speed to minimise the risk of traction loss at the rear wheel or skidding.

The 2016 models of the KTM 390 Duke and the RC 390 get the slipper clutch as standard fitment along with some other updated features like new diverted radiator fans for better heat dissipation, NOK seal and plastic flaps on front forks, new ECU dampers, auto headlamps, improved seats and revised mapping. The new RC 390 gets adjustable handlebar levers as well.

The powertrain of both the KTM RC 390 and the 390 Duke remain unchanged and continue to get propelling power from the 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motor makes up to 43bhp of maximum power and delivers torque up to 35Nm. The new model also retains most of the key features, such as front inverted (USD) forks, rear mono-shock and disc brakes on both the ends, along with ABS as standard.
