India’s biggest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp is adopting the iSmart way in the upcoming Auto Expo. Along with Super Splendor iSmart, it will also showcase Passion iSmart at the event. Recently, the bike was spotted undisguised and has numerous premium elements like a sporty split rear grab rail, restyled fuel tank and side panels with an all-new tail lamp. Its muffler has a chrome cover and the handlebar gets a Hero insignia. The bike is expected to get a 110cc, 4-stroke engine that generates 9bhp of power with 9Nm of torque. The all new Passion is expected to get drum brakes at both the front and the rear end as standard. However, the company might offer front disc brake as an option for improved braking. The bike is expected to cost around Rs. 55,000 and will compete with Honda Dream Yuga.
The i3S technology that is presently being used in Splendor iSmart will also feature on the Passion. It is an Idle Start and Stop technology, which is used to reduce the loss of fuel during idling. This technology involves a switchable system, so you can turn it on or off as per your riding needs. The system automatically turns off the motorcycle engine when found to be idling for a predefined time. To turn the engine back on, the rider simply has to press the clutch lever and ride off. It helps save fuel on halts of more than a minute at traffic signals resulting in better fuel economy, while also reducing the activity required to manually switch off and turn on the engine at every stop.
