Petrol pirce hike helps to boost E-bike market

E-bike market to grow with 200 per cent by March, 2011. Thanks to ever-increasing petrol prices! The industry sources believe that electronic bike market will be benefited from the price hike as the electric bikes don't use petrol and attract less per km cost. Due to their, eco-friendliness, these vehicles are not only getting attention of common man but also governments across the world.

 

At present, TVS Motors, Hero Electric, BSA, Ajanta and Electrotherm (India) are manufacturing e-bikes in India at large scale. Interestingly, the electric bikes are available between price range of 22,000 to 35,000 while operating cost of the e-bikes is Rs. 0.24 per km as compared to Rs. 1.30 per km of petrol bikes.

 

Some of the popular e-bikes in the market are Avon E bike, EKO COSMIC, Indus Yo, Hero electric E sprint. To make popular Electric Vehicles, Indian Government is also providing subsidy to them. The Government is giving Rs. 4000-5000 subsidy on electric bike while Rs. 1 lakh for electric cars.

 

At present, the demand for E-vehicles is increasing and it is expected that these vehicles will be sold in great number in coming years, as per experts.
