Piaggio to launch Piaggio Vespa 125cc scooter & a bike soon

Piaggio Vehicles, a three-wheeler manufacturer is said to make its re-entry in the two-wheeler segment with its launch of the Piaggio Vespa Lx model scooter by March, next year. Apparently, the company also envisages making a debut in the motorcycle segment as well. However, the Piaggio Vespa Lx price in India is still unknown.
According to reports, Piaggio vehicles Chairman and Managing Director, Ravi Chopra, reportedly said that the company is eyeing to set up a manufacturing plant at Baramati in Maharashtra, that has the capacity to produce 1.5 lakh units. The announcement about the launch is thought to be made during the auto Expo and the Piaggio Vespa is said to be available by March, next year.
According to the Piaggio Vespa Lx review, the new scooter is likely to come with much sophisticated features and is expected to be launched in a single variant. As for the Piaggio Vespa Lx specifications, the scooter is likely to come with 125 cc engine in a gearless model and an engine displacement of 125 cc. The mighty engine generates the peak power of 7.65 KW and 9.6 Nm peak torque. According to the company, they had made an investment of Rs 30 million Euros and have plans to expand the facility by 3 lakh units annually by mid of 2013. The company apparently has plans to target the domestic market for their Piaggio Vespa. It is said that the market opportunity in this sector is immense and are also engaged in studying the possibilities to introduce Piaggio bike from their brand. However, the company hasn't shared any details as to how long the study is likely to continue to make the final decision on their proposed investment plans. As for the expansion plans, the Piaggio Vehicles had ramped up its production capacity from 800 units to 1000 units a day and are currently involved in evaluation process to subsequently pass on the hike to the customers.
