Piaggio to launch Vespa Elegante this festive season in India

The Italian auto major- Piaggio is all set to launch the fourth scooter under the brand Vespa in India. It will be a new model based on the existing Vespa VX 125 and will be christened as Vespa Elegante. The company is already selling three scooters in India including- Vespa VX 125, Vespa LX 125 and the new one- Vespa S. The VX 125 is also launched in a limited edition recently, called Vespa Esclusivo. The edition received some cosmetic upgrades along with a numbered Esclusivo badge which was limited to 1000 units.
 

The new Vespa Elegante will be more stylish then the VX 125, taking style inspiration from the Vespa Primavera, which is quite popular in the international market. It comes with a round headlamp and triangular front grill with chrome lining, 5-spoke alloys, front disc brake, tubeless tyres and optional ABS.

Bolted on a monocoque chassis, the Vespa Elegante will be powered by the same 125cc, 3-valve, OHC engine, which powers the current line-up in India. Mated to a CVT drive, the powermill is capable to deliver 9.9bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 10.6Nm. The scooter is expected to be launched during the festive season this year with a price tag of around Rs. 79,000. It will be made available in ravishing colours like Marrakech Brown and Pearl White.
