We are just a week away from the launch of the all-new Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. The bike has been spied on multiple times in the past and will be launched on July 17, 2024. Here are the top five 400-450cc roadster bikes that you can buy before the Guerrilla 450’s launch.
1. Harley-Davidson X440: Price Starts At Rs 2,39,500 (ex-showroom)
Engine: 440cc air-/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine
Power: 28PS at 6000rpm and 38Nm at 4000rpm
The Harley-Davidson X440 is the most affordable bike in the American bikemaker’s lineup.. It has a muscular design with a beefy fuel tank. It has a tractable engine, which allows you to ride the bike at 50kmph even in the 6th gear, effortlessly. On the flip side, you can easily cruise on the highway in sixth gear, for longer periods. However, for high-speed overtakes, you have to shift down a gear or two.
The 440cc roadster is equipped with all-LED lighting. It features a 3.5-inch TFT instrument console. It displays a speedometer, odometer, tachometer, gear position indicator, clock and other tell-tale lights. The top variant comes with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and offers call and SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, missed call alerts, music controls, phone battery status and phone signal.
2. Triumph Speed 400: Priced At Rs 2,34,497 (ex-showroom)
Engine: 398.15cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine
Power: 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500rpm
The Triumph Speed 400 is the smallest bike from the British manufacturer, developed in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. Even with the powerful 398.15cc engine, the Speed 400 is quite a friendly and usable bike. It is super tractable in the city and can do 25kmph in 5th gear. It also has a powerful top-end performance and can reach a speedo-indicated 165kmph. The Speed 400 is a good option for those who are looking for a premium and affordable retro roadster that can handle both city commutes and highway runs. However, if you want a more rugged and off-road focused bike, you can go for the Triumph Scrambler 400 X.
The Speed 400 has a semi-digital instrument console. The speedometer is analogue and the LCD cluster displays an odometer, tachometer, tripmeter, fuel gauge, a gear position indicator, distance-to-empty readout, a clock and other basic information. However, it lacks smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The 400cc roadster gets an all-LED lighting and a USB C-type charging port. The bike also gets switchable traction control.
3. Hero Mavrick 440: Price Starts At Rs 1,99,000 (ex-showroom)
Engine: 440cc air-/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine
Power: 27PS at 6000rpm and 36Nm 4000rpm
The Hero Mavrick 440, the most affordable bike on this list, comes with a unique roadster design and is based on the same platform as the Harley Davidson X440. The Mavrick 440 isn’t just for the experienced riders but is also a very friendly bike for new riders. The bike has a refined engine with a strong low-end grunt. Moreover, the Mavrick is a very comfortable bike and the suspension setup does its job pretty nicely.
The Hero Mavrick 440 has an all-LED lighting setup. It gets an LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity which offers 35 other functions, including call and text alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, phone battery indicator, estimated time of arrival, remote tracking and more. It includes a digital speedometer, a tachometer, trip meters, an odometer, a side stand sensor, a gear position indicator, real-time mileage, distance to empty and basic telltale lights.
The top variant comes with a few exclusive features like vehicle diagnosis, location sharing, roadside assistance, geo-fencing, and others, which can be accessed through the e-SIM-based Hero Connect app.
4. Husqvarna Svartpilen 401: Priced At Rs 2,92,000 (ex-showroom)
Engine: 398.63cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine
Power: 46PS at 9000rpm and 39Nm at 7000rpm
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is technically a neo-retro roadster, however, the manufacturer calls it an urban scrambler. It comes with a big round LED headlight and a muscular fuel tank with tank extensions that add visual mass and complement the bike’s overall design. The bike easily reaches triple-digit speeds and can comfortably cruise at around 110-120kmph without stressing the engine. It also has a good low-end grunt and a smooth clutch, making it easy to ride in the city.
The Svartpilen 401 is equipped with all-LED lighting and gets an optional 5-inch TFT with Bluetooth connectivity. The display showcases a speedometer, odometer, tachometer, tripmeter, gear shift indicator, riding modes, estimated range, clock and basic tell-tale lights. It also comes with rider aids including traction control, ride-by-wire, quickshifter+ and supermoto ABS. Additionally, it comes with a type-C charging port and a hazard light feature.
5. Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450: Expected Price - Rs 2.20 - Rs 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom)
Engine: 452cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Sherpa engine (but tuned differently)
Power: 40PS and 40Nm (engine produces on Himalayan 450)
The upcoming Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is a 450cc roadster from the manufacturer, set to launch on July 17, 2024. It comes with the same 452cc engine as the Himalayan 450, but we expect it to get a different tune to suit the roadster’s character. The Guerrilla 450 will likely be available in two variants. The more affordable variant will come with a single-tone colour option and the premium variants get dual-tone colour options.
The base variant gets a semi-digital instrument console, borrowed from the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. It was spotted a few times with the Tripper navigation pod as well, but it can also be available as an optional feature. Whereas the premium variant features the same TFT instrument console as the Himalayan 450 with Google Maps navigation. We think that the Guerrilla 650 will be priced cheaper than the Triumph Speed 400, and here’s why.
