The adventure tourer now arrives in six colours
- The new bike comes at a premium of Rs 5,660.
- It finally gets switchable ABS.
- Engine specs are likely to be unchanged.
Royal Enfield has just announced the prices of the BS6-compliant version of the Himalayan as the base colours now cost Rs 1,86,611 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is a hike of Rs 5,660 from the BS4 models. The Himalayan Sleet is now priced at Rs 1,89,565; which is Rs 6778 costlier than its BS4 counterpart. Royal Enfield has also introduced three new colours -- Gravel Grey, Lake Blue and Rock Red -- that were first showcased at EICMA 2019. The Gravel Grey colour costs the same as the Sleet livery while the other two colours cost slightly more, bearing a sticker price of Rs 1,91,401.
The BS6 Himalayans began arriving at dealerships this past week. Aside from the new colours, the new bikes get a hazard toggle switch and switchable ABS. The latter feature will be extremely handy when one does go off-roading. The hazard switch was available on the older generation Himalayan, but was dropped on the BS4 model.
While the engine specs of the Himalayan BS6 are yet to be divulged, we believe that there might be no change to the output. It is likely that the 411cc single-cylinder motor will continue to produce 24.83PS and 32Nm in its latest avatar too. Hence, the new Himalayan makes even more sense for those who were looking for a go-anywhere motorcycle, especially with the launch of the KTM 390 Adventure likely to take place soon enough.
