The brand will be updating its adventure tourer very soon
[Update: Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 Prices Revealed]
Royal Enfield has begun rolling out its first BS6 models. With the brand’s most popular bike , starting with its most popular model, the Classic 350. Next up on the list is the brand’s adventure tourer - the Himalayan. So what can we expect from the updated bike?
Engine
Its 411cc single-cylinder motor is already fuel-injected and therefore BS6-ready, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to make it comply with upcoming BS6 emission norms. It isn’t at the ragged edge in terms of state of tune either, so it might just even retain its output figures.
Underpinnings
We’ve spotted the bike testing recently, and there seem to be some interesting changes. One of these is to the tyres, which will now be MRF Meteor units. The front wheel also seems like it’s gone down a size from 21-inches to 19-inches, but the angle is a little odd, so we can’t be sure of this. The frame and suspension hardware appear to be the same as before.
Features
The instrument cluster looks to be the same at first glance, but there are a couple of minor changes. One new button and one new warning light are present on the test bike. The button is presumably to turn off ABS, something which is severely missed on the current bike, and the light could be an engine warning light. A hazard light switch has also been thrown in on the right-hand side switch cluster.
Design
There is no real change to the appearance of the motorcycle, it will continue to sport the same rugged and purposeful look that it currently does. What will be new, though, are the three fresh dual-tone colour options shown at EICMA 2019 which will be offered on the BS6 bike. The colours in question are Rock Red, Lake Blue and Gravel Grey.
Price
The updates to the motor as well as the other minor changes will result in a price hike of around Rs 8,000 over the current bike, which sells for Rs 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect Royal Enfield to roll out the BS6 update sometime in the coming weeks.
