From a feature packed naked streetfighter to a rugged dual-sport, here’s everything you can get at the same price
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350, specifically the base retro variant stands out as the cheapest Royal Enfield bike in India. The roadster sells at Rs 1,49,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and since launch the price has remained unchanged, which is quite commendable.
But if you are not interested in the Hunter 350 and would like to explore all options, then here’s a list of bikes and scooters that you can get at the same price.
Bajaj Pulsar N250 (Price: Rs 1,50,829)
The Bajaj Pulsar N250 is a naked streetfighter offering from Bajaj Auto. It was recently updated and now comes with a lot of new features, including a new digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity and related features such as call/SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation.
The new console also gives real time information such as distance to empty and instantaneous mileage readouts alongside regular information such as speed, fuel level, tachometer readings, tripmeter and odometer readouts.
Additionally, Bajaj has also brought 3 ABS modes (Road, Rain and Off-road), which modulate the level of ABS intervention, and a traction control system to the bike as well.
The Pulsar N250 is powered by a 249.07cc air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 24.5PS and 21.5Nm. With decent performance and a good set of features on offer, the Pulsar N250 does make a good alternative to the Hunter 350.
TVS Ronin (Price: Rs 1,49,200)
If you’re not interested in looking at other types of motorcycles and prefer sticking to the neo-retro roadster segment then the TVS Ronin will be a choice to consider. The bike comes with an unconventional design language but overall maintains that roadster-like look.
It is powered by a 225cc air/oil cooled single-cylinder engine which produces 20.4PS and 19.93Nm. It also gets a few features, the first of which is 2 ABS modes: Rain and Urban, with the Rain mode being the one which has the most ABS intervention and the urban being a bit more balanced.
Coming to other features, TVS also offers its Glide-Through-Technology (GTT), which is a low-rpm assist function that allows the bike to move through traffic without the rider having to accelerate, the bike moves forward with just clutch modulation.
Yamaha R15S (Price: Rs 1,65,500)
The Yamaha R15S is a good supersport alternative that you can get in the same price range. It is the most affordable R15 variant and comes with a few changes that makes it stand out.
In terms of design, the front section is similar to what we have seen on the previous generation R15 with the split headlight. The bike also comes with similar underpinnings as the R15 V3, with the telescopic fork and monoshock.
The bike is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine which produces 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. If you are looking for a supersport that can also be used for sports touring then the R15S will be an option worth considering.
Hero Xpulse 200 4V (Price: Rs 1,46,276)
If you’re someone who doesn’t want the fun to end where the roads do, then the Hero Xpulse 200 4V will be an option worth considering. The Xpulse is Hero’s ADV/dual-sport offering and is powered by a 199.6cc air/oil-cooled single cylinder engine which produces 18.9PS and 17.35Nm.
The bike has a suspension setup that comprises a telescopic fork and a 10-step preload adjustable monoshock. The suspension setup gives the bike 190mm wheel travel at the front and 170mm wheel travel at the rear. It rolls on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels with block pattern tyres. The ground clearance comes to 220mm, which is pretty good and can handle most challenges that one would encounter off the road.
Ather Rizta Z 3.7kWh (Price: Rs 1,44,999)
The Ather Rizta is a family-oriented electric scooter which offers both good performance and a lot of features. The scooter is powered by a 4.3kW motor which gives it a claimed top speed of 80kmph. The Z 3.7kWh variant as the name suggests comes with a 3.7kWh battery pack and offers a 160km claimed range.
In terms of features, the first thing that stands out is the massive storage capacity. The scooter has a large 34-litre under seat storage and riders can increase this to 56-litres by adding in the Ather ‘frunk’ which is mounted on the scooter’s apron.
Other features include a traction control system and a 7-inch TFT console with full-fledged navigation via google maps. The scooter comes at an ex-showroom Bengaluru price of Rs 1,44,999, including Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS).
It is important to note all other prices on this list, except Ather Rizta, are ex-showroom Delhi rates.
