It's been 7 years since the Interceptor originally launched and it seems like it will get its long-due major update

Quick News Highlights:

  • New Royal Enfield Interceptor spotted testing

  • Gets instrument console from Himalayan 450

  • Could get a bigger 750cc engine

Royal Enfield is planning to expand its lineup with the new Interceptor 750, which has been seen testing on public roads. This supports rumors of a new 750cc engine being developed. Recent sightings of test bikes, including the Interceptor 750, Continental GT 750, and Himalayan 750, show that the company is working to upgrade its motorcycles from 650cc to a more powerful 750cc engine.

Engine

The Interceptor 750 is reported to feature the new, larger 750cc parallel-twin engine that should make more power and torque than the current 650cc twin. Which for reference,  generates 47.5PS and 52Nm. About 55PS and 60Nm is what we can expect this new engine to make comfortably. It will get the same 6-speed gearbox, though it could be tuned differently from the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

Design

In terms of design, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 750 retains the familiar look of its predecessor but incorporates several modern updates. The test mule also showcases new round tail lights and turn indicators, along with a redesigned split-spoke alloy wheel setup.

New Underpinnings

Notable changes include a revised exhaust system featuring compact twin mufflers, dual front disc brakes, and the 5-inch circular TFT Tripper Dash instrument cluster from the Himalayan 450, which provides features like Google Maps navigation and music controls. While it has a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers which look similar to those on the 650, we can expect a change in the setup to better handle the increased weight and power.

BikeDekho Says

With the frequency of test bike sightings increasing, it's clear that Royal Enfield could be planning to launch the 750cc bikes at the end of this year or in the next year. This will make Royal Enfield a strong competitor in the higher capacity segment.
