The California based startup’s new lineup will also come in a cafe racer and scrambler variant
Sondors MadMods has revealed its next pedal-assisted moped lineup. The company manufactures premium e-bikes and sells them in Europe and North America. Expected to be launched overseas by March 2021, the new range’s prices will start at USD 1,499 (Rs 1,09,000). It will come in three variants: a regular moped, a cafe racer and a scrambler. The exposed frame seems to get a storage box shaped like a fuel tank while the narrow seat is longer to give it a motorcycle-like profile. It even gets a round retro-looking LED headlamp and chunky looking 4-inch thick tyres.

Power comes from a 750W rear hub electric motor with a 1kWh battery pack integrated into the frame. Sondor has not revealed any details about the top speed or battery range but we reckon both should be adequate given the electric startup’s previous efficient e-bikes.

Suspension components include upside down forks and dual shock absorbers. The e-bikes will get large 26-inch spoke wheels with thick tyres which should make it comfortable to ride over rough surfaces. It gets disc brakes on both ends. From the design rendering, the cafe racer appears to get premium stickier tyres while the scrambler appears to get dual purpose tyres.
While we dont see Sondor launching the new e-bikes in India anytime soon, we think that an electric moped styled like a motorcycle has great potential in our market.
