Splendor and Passion to be branded with Hero tag only

Hero Honda the world's largest bike manufacturer went separate ways a few weeks back. Munjal's operated Hero group had bought 26 per cent stake of its JV Japan based Honda Motors. Now the company is planning to remove the Honda name from Hero Honda's best selling bikes such as Hero Honda Splendor and Hero Honda Passion. Hero Honda Glamour and Hero Honda Hunk are also slated to see the same exercise. On the other hand, the name of Hero Honda CD Deluxe and Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme are under consideration.

 

Hero Group to re-brand its bikes from month of April 2011 and these new branded bikes will be available from June this year. And firstly the name of Splendor and Passion will be re-changed with Hero tag.

 

Right now, Hero Honda Karizma is the flagship and high-end bike model while CD Deluxe is the base model by the company. It is expected that Hero is to release new naming for their popular bikes. 

 

Hero Honda is enjoying the number position in Indian two wheeler market with sales of 4.6 million motorcycles per year. And Hero Honda is expecting to sell over 5 million motorcycles this financial year. According the final agreement between Hero and Honda, Hero group to use Honda's technology till the year of 2014, after that it will produce bikes with it's own technology in India.

 

Now Hero is planning to spread its wings in Indian and overseas market with International launching of its bikes. On the other hand, Honda is also ready to grab the Indian bike market and launching all segment bikes. Presently Honda has Honda Twister, Honda Unicorn, Honda Dazzler, Honda CBF Stunner etc., flagship bikes models while whole Indian scooter market is dominated by Honda Activa and Honda Dio.
