From the earth shattering Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade to the humble Hero Xtreme 200S, here’s everything you need to know
This year’s been an absolute disaster for businesses big and small and the economy as a whole. The two-wheeler industry suffered huge losses too. Despite this setback we’ve witnessed several new launches and a number of BS6 compliant motorcycles being introduced into the market this year. We’ve already compiled a list of the top cruiser, naked and roadster motorcycles launched this year. This time around we shift our focus to sportbikes. From the earth shattering Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade to the humble Hero Xtreme 200S, here’s everything you need to know.
Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade:
The CBR1000RR-R made its global debut at EICMA 2019. The 999cc inline four-cylinder superbike dishing out 217.5PS is Honda’s most powerful bike ever made. In fact, it is the first Honda to tear through the 200PS power barrier. While we aren’t aware of its actual price, the bike is available on a made to order basis. The fact that John Abraham got his hands on one should underline this statement. Expected prices available here.
Ducati Panigale V2: Launched 26 August 2020
Ducati launched its most affordable Panigale in India on 26 August for a price of Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s styled similar to Ducati’s flagship, the Panigale V4, and is an absolute hooligan with 155PS of power and 104Nm of torque. More details here.

It’s not only less vibey but handles better too thanks to some grippy Michelin Road 5 tyres. You also get ride modes, a full-colour TFT display and much more for a price of just Rs 2.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Head here for more.

BMW S 1000 RR BS6: Unveiled 31 July
Next up is the BS6 S 1000 RR. The German marque’s litre-class offering has made its final transition to meet Euro 5 emission norms. BMW, as always, likes to throw in a little extra with each update, and the S 1000 RR is not different. The Euro-5/BS6 transition reels in a new paint scheme, giving customers a total of three colour options: the standard red, Pro M Sport with HP Motorsport racing colours, and the new Black Storm Metallic livery. The new colour is expected to be launched in India in the next couple of months.
