Surprisingly, the Robo-S surpasses the iQube in most aspects
The Chinese are infamous for creating clones of famous two-wheelers. This time, their prey is our home-grown TVS iQube e-scooter, which has been replicated as the ‘Robo-S’ by Chinese electric vehicle maker Sunra EV.
Interestingly, while TVS doesn’t sell the iQube in international markets, the Robo-S is available in Europe at Rs 2.90 lakh (converted from Euros), which is more than twice the iQube’s India price.
The Robo-S is well equipped too. It gets a USB charging socket, all-LED lighting, a reverse gear, cruise control, and even a fingerprint touch-start system, making it the more modern e-scoot between the two. However, it does not get a TFT display (unlike the iQube) but features an average LCD setup instead.
Powering the Sunra Robo-S is a 3kW motor delivering 230Nm, coupled with two 72V20Ah batteries. It is capable of a claimed top speed and range of 80kmph and 135km, respectively. Meanwhile, the iQube only boasts a claimed range of 75km and a top speed of 78kmph.

The scooter rolls on 12-inch tyres shod with single disc brakes and alloys. A combined braking system links the two discs for added safety.
Yes, this is a clone and will never make it to our shores. But if it ever did, it would pull the rug from under the iQube’s feet. Of course, only it was to be priced well. Maybe it’s time TVS took some notes from the Chinese.
