The quarter-litre cruiser is likely to make its debut in 2020
- The Intruder 250 is likely to be priced around Rs 1.8 lakh (ex-showroom).
- It is likely to get an all-new design to set itself apart from the Intruder 150.
- The upcoming 250cc cruiser will be based on the Gixxer SF 250 platform.
Suzuki recently launched the new Gixxer SF 250 and is also planning to launch the Gixxer 250 by September this year. Now, the company officials have revealed that there’s a new cruiser bike under development too! Likely to be called the Intruder 250, the upcoming cruiser bike will be based on the new Gixxer SF 250 platform, following the same path that the Japanese brand took for its Gixxer 155 range.
As far as the design is concerned, it could be styled on the lines of its bigger cousin, the Intruder M1800R, or maybe Suzuki’s designers may take an all-new approach. Expect the new Intruder 250 to get a longer swingarm, a laid-back handlebar setup and slightly revised ergonomics for a more comfortable and laid back riding position. In terms of feature, it could get LED lights at the front and rear as well as a fully digital instrument cluster.
The Intruder 250 is likely to be powered by the same engine as the Gixxer SF 250. The 249cc fuel-injected unit produces 26.5PS and 22.6Nm, and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. However, we expect Suzuki to tune this engine to match the Intruder’s cruising capability. The suspension setup is likely to be the same as its faired cousin -- a telescopic fork at the front and a rear monoshock. However, the company could tune it to offer a softer ride. The Intruder 250 could also feature dual-channel ABS as a standard feature.
There’s no confirmation about the launch date, but we expect Suzuki to showcase the Intruder 250 at the 2020 Auto Expo. Likely to be priced around Rs 1.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it will go up against the Dominar 400 and the dual-channel ABS variant of the Jawa.
