The 125cc scooter gets a retro design theme and is more powerful than the BS6 Access 125.
- The Suzuki 125cc scooter was unveiled at the Taipei Motor Show.
- Receives interesting features like LED lighting, external fuel-filler cap and keyless ignition.
- Suzuki has recently unveiled the BS6 Access 125 for the Indian market which will be launched soon.
Suzuki showcased the new Saluto 125 scooter for the Taipei market. Unlike the 125cc scooters sold by Suzuki in India, the new 125cc scooter features a completely new retro design language which is inspired by Lambretta and Vespa scooters. The new scooter features a petite LED headlight with chrome bezel and a slightly rakish apron. The LED turn indicators are positioned on the apron and below it sits a chopped fender.
The flat seat profile with tan saddle accentuates the retro vibe further, while the swoopy tail section completes its beautiful styling. We particularly like the manner in which the U-shaped LED tail light and the edgy LED indicators have been integrated into the body panel. A really interesting feature in the new Suzuki scooter is keyless ignition and there’s a knob on the right hand side which we think opens the seat and the fuel filler cap.
Similar to the BS6 Suzuki Access 125, the Suzuki Saluto 125 also features an external fuel filler cap. But, it’s positioned below the handlebar and the fuel tank has been positioned below the floorboard. This should result in a large under seat storage however there are no images of the same to confirm. The Suzuki Saluto 125 feature a retro-looking large instrument console with chrome bezel and it houses a semi-digital unit. The switches are oval-shaped and are similar to the ones found on Vespa scooters.
Powering the scooter is a 124cc, fuel-injected motor producing 9.4PS and 10Nm of torque. The BS6 Access 125’s engine produces 8.7PS and 10Nm. The frame is suspended on telescopic fork and monoshock unit. Braking hardware consists of disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the back.
So will Suzuki bring the Saluto 125 to India? We feel it’s highly unlikely as the features on the Saluto 125 makes it a premium scooter, something which will be difficult to sell in a price conscious market like ours. However, a retro-styled Access 125 does looks tempting to take on the new Yamaha Fascino 125 in our market.
