Suzuki to enter into the 100cc bikes market

Suzuki Motorcycle Pvt Ltd., the country's one of the leading two-wheeler manufacturer, aims to increase its two-wheelers' presence in the Indian auto market over the 18 months. The company will also invest by nearly 50 percent for the new motorcycles production capacity and products portfolio within the expected period. Suzuki Motorcycle has decided to debut into the 100cc bikes market by launching various type of motorcycles in the entry-level segment. Presently, the company has three products range in motorcycle segment including Suzuki Gs, Suzuki Heat, Suzuki Zeus and only one scooter in the Scooter segment such as Suzuki Access. Out of three motorcycles one, Suzuki Zeus has been phased out from the auto market, due to the new emission norms. Existing Suzuki Motorcycles accounted for 2 percent market share in the two-wheelers and the auto firm wants to grow it to a respective share in the two-wheelers market. Suzuki Motorcycle has recently launched two new super bikes including Suzuki GSX-R1000 and Suzuki Bandit 1250S in the Indian auto market. The company plans to invest Rs. 200 crore in the two-wheelers business. Suzuki has registered a growth of 45 percent at 1.88 lakh units sales in the last fiscal year. According to the demand of Suzuki motorcycle in the market, the company might cross 3 lakh units of two-wheelers in this financial year. Besides, Suzuki plans to double its manufacturing capacity to 5 lakh units over the next 18 months. On the other hand, India Yamaha Motor intending to launch its new premium bikes soon in Indian that includes Yamaha SZ and Yamaha YZF R125.
