The Swiss police has replaced two BMW ICE motorcycles, that were previously in their fleet, with Zero electric bikes
The police department of Lausanne, Switzerland, has added two new Zero SR/S e-bikes to their fleet. The new electric bikes will replace the older BMW petrol-powered motorcycles for patrolling.
Of the two, one Zero SR/S electric bike is kept in its stock condition, while the other has been equipped with flashers, a siren, crash bars, side cases, a top case, and a tall windscreen. No other modifications have been carried out to the bike to make it suitable for police usage.

On the features front, the Zero SR/S offers a reverse mode, a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and six riding modes (Rain, Eco, Standard, Sport, Canyon and Custom). Other notable features include a Cypher III+ operating system that offers downloadable upgrades, Bosch’s motorcycle stability control system and heated hand grips.
The Zero SR/S electric bike is available in two variants in Europe: Standard and Premium. The Standard version uses a 14.4kWh Z-Force Li-Ion battery that takes 2.2 hours to fully charge via the standard 220V outlet while the Premium variant gets a 15.6kWh unit that requires 2.4 hours.
Powering the bike is a Z-Force 75-10 permanent magnet AC motor that puts out 82Kw and 190Nm. This motor lends the e-bike a top speed of 200kmph.
The Zero SR/S is priced at CHF 23,580 (around Rs 19.48 lakh). In India, if you are looking to buy an affordable electric bike, the Revolt RV400 and the Tork Kratos are a few options you can consider.
