As most of them are familiar with the news that Ducati, the famous Italian bike maker, is looking for the best buyers for Ducati bike manufacturing unit. According to the news sources there are three prominent buyers for Ducati firm. These three are Germany-based Volkswagen, India-based Mahindra and Mahindra and BMW. Out of the trio, it looks Mahindra and Mahindra might be out of contention in striking the deal, because it will be a very taunting task for Mahindra to convince Investindustrial Group, the present Ducati owners.
Mahindra and Mahindra looking forward to acquire Saab and it has recently acquired REVA and SsangYong. Ducati is making a good business world over at the moment, Investindustrial Group wants to increase this growth with an aid of better partner. Ducati have gained 10.7% share in world super bike market by selling about 40000 bikes all over the world. Mahindra have some bitter experiences with two-wheeler segment automobiles. Mahindra bikes did not fair well in the market, but the scooters faired well. This can be one of the reasons for Investindustrial Group.
BMW have many success stories, with its Motorrad Division. BMW and Volkswagen have proven their capabilities in the past when they acquired other companies. They have been able to steadily steer the growth of the firms which they acquired. In recent years BMW acquired Mini, Rolls Royce, and Volkswagen also had new entrants in its family, like Skoda, Seat, Audi, Bugatti, and Lamborghini. Investindustrial Group may also be thinking about the Europe economy as it will have to shut the company and many across Europe will be jobless if it sells Ducati to a non-European company. This might also be one of the prime concerns looming over minds of Investindustrial Group officials.
