Production of the scooter will commence from new plant from now on
Bajaj has unveiled a new production line for the Chetak electric scooter at its manufacturing unit in Akurdi, Pune. They have also revealed that the e-scoot is now heavily localised under its subsidiary Chetak Technology Limited, with every component save the battery cells sourced from within India.
Speaking at a media event at their manufacturing facility, Bajaj revealed that the new production line for the Chetak is capable of producing 800 units per day, which implies an annual capacity of 2.5 lakh units.
Despite the localisation in production, the price of the Chetak is not expected to reduce. Priced at Rs 1,47,775 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Bajaj Chetak rivals the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro and TVS iQube electric, all of which are more affordable.

This scooter is powered by a 4.08kW motor that features two riding modes: Eco and Sport. The top speed of the e-scoot is 60kmph, which is a bit underwhelming. However, Bajaj claims that the lower top speed helps extend the range of the 3kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The scooter offers a claimed real-world range of 95km in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode.
