The inconspicuous e-moped is loaded with features not seen even on the Ather 450X
Electric mobility is in vogue now, and while some EVs try their best to blend in among the fuel-guzzling crop of two-wheelers, some make it a point to stand out. One classic example of the latter is Netherland-based Brekr’s Model B, an electric moped that aims to change the way the world perceives urban mobility.
The Model B’s minimalist design is unlike anything we have ever seen. There are no chunky panels to hide the battery pack or give the moped a hunky appearance. Instead, the startup has smartly cut down on weight, and the result is an EV that tips the scales at 78kg, including the 9kg battery pack.

The Brekr Model B uses innovative battery tech. Built using high-power 18650 cells, the removable 40.2Ah battery pack promises a range of 50-80km depending on the configuration. Not impressed? You can plonk in two battery packs and extend the range upto 160km. Brekr claims each battery pack requires five hours to charge completely.
Brekr has used a QS hub motor that is tuned specifically for this moped and is capable of producing 2.5kW of continuous power. Peak power is rated at 4kW while maximum torque is 140Nm. This motor can reach a top speed of 45kmph, or can be restricted to 25kmph, if need be.
The highlight of the Brekr Model B is its unique frame. Though this combination of twin spar and double cradle frame may not look very convincing, the company is so confident that it offers a seven year warranty of the aluminum frame.
This inconspicuous electric moped has enough payload capacity to carry two people. To enhance the ride quality, Brekr has deployed USD fork up front offering 100mm travel and dual shocks with 60mm travel. A 220mm disc at the front and a 180mm disc at the rear take care of braking.
There are no compromises in features as well. The moped comes with LED illumination all around and mobile connectivity comes as standard. Interestingly, Brekr has equipped the model with two 8W speakers so the traffic or pedestrians know you are approaching. And yes, it has its unique sound, but isn’t a mockup of the symphony of a V4 or a triple-cylinder engine like the Revolt RV400.
At EUR 4,499, or roughly Rs 3.92 lakh, the Brekr B2 isn’t cheap by any means. But who wouldn’t want to splurge on something as cool and as featured-loaded as the Brekr. That said, the moped is not coming to India. But we will have the Simple One and Ola Electric Scooter gracing our roads this weekend.
