The Reiju E-City range offers perfect urban rides
Modern, sporty, lightweight. Here’s an electric scooter, called the Reiju E-City, that packs these aspects. As the name suggests, this electric scooter is meant for urban use, and comes in two variants – 1.2kW and 3kW.
The 1.2kW variant has a top speed of 45kmph and is meant to offer performance equivalent to a 50cc scooter, while the more powerful 3kW variant maxes out at 70kmph and is more in line with 110cc scooters. The only differentiating factor between the two variants is performance, with the design, features and underpinnings remaining the same.
The Reiju E-City overall packs a pleasing aesthetic, with a perfect balance of sharpness and sportiness. The Bosch hub motor is powered by a 1.5kWh battery in the lower trim, while the more powerful version gets a 2.1kWh battery. Surprisingly, both versions offer a range of 70km. Charging times for both variants are six hours via a standard charger and 3.5 hours via a fast charger.
Under the skin, it has a tubular steel frame supported by an aluminum swingarm. Underpinnings include a 33mm telescopic fork and dual gas shock absorbers, 12-inch alloy wheels and CBS-enabled disc brakes at both ends.

Features include all LED lighting, a basic LCD unit that provides information about battery level, speed and ride modes. What is particularly interesting about this scooter is the weight, as the E-City 1.2kW weighs just 82kg, while the E-City 3kW weighs 90kg.
The Rieju E-City 1.2kW is priced at EUR 3,200 euros (INR 2.81 lakh), while the E-City 3kW costs EUR 5,200 (INR 4.57 lakh). This makes these e-scoots too expensive for the Indian market, where you can get better equipped options like Ola S1, Ather 450X, TVS iQube and Hero Vida V1 for a much lower price tag.
