This Jeep Electric Bicycle Makes 160Nm Of Torque!

Iconic SUV and 4x4 vehicle manufacturer Jeep has launched its first electric bicycle, simply titled the Jeep e-Bike, in collaboration with QuietKat, a Colorado-based electric bicycle company. Preorders have opened and it will be available from June 2020 onwards in the US.
However, the Jeep e-Bike is priced too steeply at USD 5,899 (Rs 4.26 lakh). This makes it USD 400 (almost Rs 29,000) more than the US-spec KTM 390 Duke! Even other American off-road-oriented electric bicycle brands like M2S Bikes offer similarly-specced bicycles at much lower prices. M2S Bikes’ top-end model, the Ultra FS, costs a whole USD 1,900 (around Rs 1.37 lakh) less.
The Jeep e-Bike comes with a 750W electric motor which generates 160Nm at the wheel. The lithium-ion battery is integrated into the frame and the claimed range stands at 40 miles (around 64km). The electric motor can either assist the pedal power or can be switched to electric-only (via the thumb throttle). However, to comply with US regulations, the top speed in electric-only mode is limited to 20mph (around 32kmph). But thanks to the 10-speed gearbox, you should be able to ride faster using pedal power and conveniently switch to pedal-assist mode whenever you get tired.
As expected from a Jeep bicycle, it features a sophisticated Fire-Link rear suspension with a four-bar linkage and inverted front fork. The suspension travel up front stands at 150mm while the rear offers 120mm of travel. This coupled with the 26″x 4.8″ fat off-road tyres should make the bicycle a hoot to ride off the road. Brakes include 203mm petal discs on both ends with 4-piston calipers for optimum stopping power. The Jeep e-Bike will be offered in two frame sizes: Medium (17-inch) and Large (19-inch).
