The bike is called Gallinella and it features a lot of interesting design bits
We recently came across a beautifully modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 built by BAAK Motocyclettes, a French custom house. The bike is called the Interceptor 650 Gallinella and it features many changes to the design that have made the bike a very classy retro. Here’s everything you need to know.
In terms of design, the first thing BAAK has done is swap out the stock headlight and instrument console for a Classic headlight with an integrated speedometer. BAAK calls it the Daytona speedometer. The classic headlight is a round unit and the Daytona speedometer consists of an analogue speedometer and tachometer, along with a digital inset to display trip and odometer readouts.
Along with this, they have used a wider handlebar and integrated a 3-button switch gear on both sides. The 3-button switch gear is a simple unit that features 2 small buttons on the top with a metallic finish and a large black one.
The other major change that the bike has undergone with this build is the chopped subframe and the addition of a new rear fairing. The rear fairing covers the bike’s side panel and subframe, it features a typical bathtub-style design that old retro-style British rear fairings had. BAAK has also added a shortened leather seat, which has been made in-house. At the rear, the Interceptor 650 Gallinella features a small round taillight, giving the rear a simple and minimalist look.
The Gallinella has a compact profile, and to achieve this BAAK has swapped out the massive-looking twin exhausts for custom bobber-style exhausts. The exhausts look quite compact and blend in well with the design overall, it also gives the bike a unique look. Lastly, the number plate holder has been swapped out for an offset one that hangs off the bike’s rear left side.
The fairing kit and individual parts used for this build can be bought via BAAK Motocylettes’ official website and they offer shipping to India via DHL Express International shipping. That said, it is important to note that importing parts will attract import duties and other taxes so it is advisable to reach out to the custom house for more details.
Other than these changes, the Interceptor 650’s performance and underpinnings remain the same. It is powered by the same 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine which produces 47PS and 52Nm.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 comes at a starting price of Rs 3,03,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and it goes up against other retro bikes in the segment such as the recently launched BSA Gold Star and the Kawasaki Z650RS.
