These bikes prove that having a small motorcycle does not mean you have to miss out on safety
point A to point B with the least amount of expenditure. Manufacturers nowadays are equipping their bread and butter models with safety features hitherto only seen on 150cc and above motorcycles and even som 125cc models. Features like a front disc brake to enhance stopping power. We list our 5 favourite ones.
TVS Radeon 110 Special Edition (Rs 54,820):
We loved the Radeon for its premium looks, torquey and frugal motor and surprisingly agile handling that made it a fun-to-ride 110cc motorcycle. However, it came only with drum brakes at both ends that did put a damper on the fun bit. Now TVS has launched a special edition variant of the Radeon that comes equipped with a front disc brake, It does cost Rs 4,000 more than the standard drum brake equipped Radeon but we do expect TS to offer the standard Radeon with a more affordable disc brake variant soon.
Bajaj Platina 110 H Gear (Rs 56,371):
The Platina H Gear’s USP is that it comes equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. Here, the H stands for highway gear. Along with a 110cc DTSi engine, the Platina 110 H Gear gets features like a Nitrox gas-charged rear suspension, tubeless tyres and a disc brake. Heck, it even gets a semi-digital instrument console with a gear shift indicator.
TVS Victor (Rs 56,042):
Now if there were such a thing as a sporty commuter, the TVS Victor would probably be it. It gets a quick revving and peppy motor, a semi-digital instrument console with a tachometer and digital speed readout, hazard lamps, series spring tear shock absorbers, tubeless tyres and a petal front disc brake which offers a sharp bite.
Hero Passion XPro (Rs 59,900):
This is a good looking motorcycle and features large body panels that help it pass off as a larger 125cc motorcycle. It gets features like a semi-digital instrument console, LED tail lamp, tubeless tyres and a disc brake clamped with a ByBre caliper. The Passion XPro, like the Splendor iSmart, gets i3s start-stop technology that switches off the motorcycle when it is in idle for too long. To start it, simply depress the clutch and you are good to go.
Honda Livo (Rs 60,627):
The Livo is a premium looking motorcycle that impressed with its quality and fit and finish. Its features list is small and consists of just a semi-digital instrument console, tubeless tyres and a front disc brake. However, the Livo feels built to last and has a smooth and reliable motor to boot.
