Activa, Access, Jupiter, all the popular names are on this list

With stricter BS6 emission norms having come into effect on April 1, we’ve seen a new generation of products take over the Indian market. Some of the updated models are mildly revised versions of older ones, while others are brand new models altogether. The segment we’re going to focus on today is scooters and these are the best BS6 faimly scooters on sale today:

Honda Activa 6G

When you think of scooters in India, the first thing that comes to mind is the mighty Honda Activa. Now in its sixth generation, it’s powered by an all-new 109.51cc engine that’s refined and packs in modern features like an ACG silent starter. For the first time, it also gets features like an external fuel-filler and telescopic front suspension, though it misses out on alloy wheels and disc brakes. India’s most popular scooter can be yours for Rs 64,464 to Rs 65,964.

TVS Jupiter BS6

The Activa isn’t quite as all-conquering as it once was and a big reason behind that is the popular TVS Jupiter. The Chennai manufacturer’s little 110cc scooter looks good, is available in some attractive colour options and is rather well-equipped, coming with things like alloy wheels, a front windscreen, and a dual-tone seat. All this while still managing to undercut the Activa with a starting price of Rs 62,062, making it an excellent value-for-money proposition.

The stricter BS6 emission norms have really strangled these 110cc motors, though, so why not opt for a 125cc scooter instead?

Suzuki Access 125 BS6

The best-selling 125cc scooter of them all, the Suzuki Access 125, also received its BS6 update late last year. An already sorted package has become even sweeter with the addition of fuel-injection, feeling even quicker while still being more refined than before. It also retains its neo-retro looks and rich feature list with an LED headlight thrown in too. Prices now start at Rs 67,100 for the base variant and go all the way up to Rs 71,700 for the snazzy Special Edition.

Honda Activa 125 BS6

Honda has taken a slightly different approach with its 125cc scooter. The Activa 125's engine output figures aren’t outstanding but the motor’s refinement is a class above anything we’ve seen on a scooter in India before. The features list is also unparalleled, with things like an ACG starter, idle stop-start system, side-stand engine cut-off, and real-time fuel-efficiency/range readouts. All this does come at a cost, though, Rs 68,000 to Rs 75,000 to be precise.

Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi

Yamaha is a brand that has never competed in the 125cc segment before but it now contests with two all-new models. One of these is the Fascino 125 Fi, which replaces the erstwhile Fascino 110. Just like its smaller predecessor, it’s quite a stylish little scooter with a neat retro design, alloy wheels, and tasteful chrome inserts. The 125cc unit powering this scooter is obviously an all-new unit, and we can’t wait to sample it. The Fascino 125 will make a Rs 69,730-sized dent in your pocket.
