Top 5 Neo-retro bikes

Retro bikes are the new craze and a lot of manufacturers are jumping onto the old-school bandwagon with affordable bikes. One of them is Yamaha which recently launched the XSR155 inThailand and are reportedly working on a new XSR250/XSR300. While these bikes are still some time away, there are some good retro offerings you can get your hands on if your budget is between Rs 2 Lakh-5 Lakh. Here are five retro bikes you could go for.

Top 5 Neo-retro bikes

Benelli Leoncino (Rs 4.79 lakh):
The Leoncino is Benelli’s first retro offering for India. While Benelli calls it a scrambler, given its limited travel suspension, underslung exhaust and road-biased tyres, the Leoncino is more of a neo-retro roadster. With the old-school looks, you get modern features like LED lighting all around and a digital instrument console. It gets a 500cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that delivers 47.5PS and 46Nm. The Leoncino impresses us with its looks, handling and braking performance.

FB Mondial HPS 300 (Rs 3.37 lakh):
While many might not be familiar with the FB Mondial name, this Italian marque has heritage. Sold under the Motoroyale umbrella, it’s only offering in India is the gorgeous HPS 300. This retro scrambler packs a 249cc single-cylinder motor that delivers 22.5PS and 22Nm of torque. It has high-spec suspension components on offer and is a good option if you are looking for something exclusive and do not mind paying the premium.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (Rs 2.5 lakh):
The Interceptor is a fantastic value-for-money proposition. It is the most affordable parallel-twin motorcycle you can buy in India. Also, the fact that you can get a 650cc parallel twin motorcycle for performance-oriented sub-400cc single cylinder money makes the Interceptor very tempting. It is properly old school with an air-cooled motor that makes 47.7PS and 52Nm. The 650cc parallel-twin motor gets a 270-degree crank that gives it a V-twin motor-like performance.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 (Rs 2.66 lakh):
Another Royal Enfield, the Continental GT 650 is a cafe racer based on the Interceptor 650 and both have the same 650cc powertrain and underpinnings. However, the Continental GT 650 gets clip-on handlebars that gives the bike a slightly more committed riding position, making it fun-to-ride on the twisties.

Honda CB300R (Rs 2.42 lakh):
The only Japanese bike in this list, the CB300R, impresses with its quality and attention to detail. This neo-retro motorcycle gets LED lighting all around and a digital instrument console. It has a 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that delivers 30.4PS and 27.4Nm of torque. It is a compact motorcycle with an upright riding position and handles quite well thanks to its Showa upside down fork and monoshock. This is the bike to go for if you are looking for a small but potent retro motorcycle.
