Bajaj overtakes Honda on the sales chart by selling 58,070 more units
The past couple of years have been a challenging time for the Indian two-wheeler industry. While the familiar names still rule the roost when it comes to monthly sales figures, there has been a massive reshuffle. Here’s how the top five bike makers in India now stack up:

Hero has been topping the sales charts regularly. It has been the king of the industry with the Splendor raking in the most sales for the brand. Recently, Hero launched the XPulse 200 4V, which has been quite a stellar improvement over the outgoing 2V model. Read all about the bike here.
What did surprise us, though, is Bajaj managing to topple Honda from the second spot in the rankings, and that too by a significant margin. The company has enjoyed great success with its exports and thanks to the new 250cc Pulsars, its domestic game has also seen a lot of improvement.
This also means that Honda needs to step up its game in the next couple of months. The launch of the CB350 H’ness Anniversary and the unveiling of the CB300R BS6 will not make much of an impact. What it needs to deliver is a strong product in the commuter space that will be priced on par with the competition. Will we get something soon?
Finally, TVS and Suzuki have enjoyed reasonable success in the past couple of months. Once comrades, they have each rolled out a 125cc scooter but with different aspirations. While the Jupiter 125 is meant to ruffle the Access 125’s feathers in the family scooter space, the Avenis aims to cause the NTorq 125 some mild discomfort.
