Hero remains the bestseller, with Bajaj ruling the roost in exports

The December 2021 two-wheeler sales data is out, and it’s a familiar story all over again. As you’d expect, Hero MotoCorp was at number one in the domestic market, while Bajaj ruled the roost in terms of the number of exports. Also, there were some notable changes in rankings compared to the November 2021 sales.

Here’s the full list:

Brand

Domestic Sales In Units (December 2021)

Export In Units (December 2021)

Total Units Sold (December 2021)

Hero

3,74,485

20,287

3,94,772

Bajaj

1,27,593

1,91,176

3,18,769

TVS

1,46,763

88,629

2,35,392

Honda

2,10,638

16,073

2,26,711

Royal Enfield

65,194

8,552

73,746

While Hero and Bajaj retained their rankings, TVS pipped Honda to secure the third position, riding on impressive export numbers. What surprised us was Royal Enfield at number five, ahead of Suzuki. That’s an achievement, considering Royal Enfield products are on the more expensive side compared to Suzuki.

In related news, Hero has announced it will launch its first electric vehicle by March 2022, and we also expect  Bajaj to launch the updated Chetak  by mid-2022. Honda has also recently launched the CB300R while TVS has introduced the NTorq 125 Spiderman and Thor editions. Meanwhile, Royal Enfield is reportedly working on a 450cc Himalayan expected to arrive by early 2023.
