English motorcycle manufacturer Triumph announced its Indian line-up during 2012 Auto Expo with aggressive pricing, which attracted every single biker in the country. However, the bikes haven't made to the showrooms yet, though now Triumph has officially announced to launch its first motorcycle in India in November, 2013. The reason of this delay is the aggressive pricing itself, as Triumph choose to assemble bikes locally to offer these on affordable prices rather than importing bikes as CBUs.
For assembling the bikes, Triumph is setting up a plant at Narsapura, Bangalore, although the Narsapura factory is on the verge of completion. But now Triumph has decided to go on-sale this November through a few handpicked dealers. We also got to learn that the iconic British bike-maker is also setting up a compact and efficient motorcycle assembly unit in Manesar, Haryana, where the bike maker assembles the range of Triumph motorcycles.
Triumph will try hard to launch the bikes at competitive pricing, close to their earlier announced target prices, however the prices won't be the same as things have been changed after Auto Expo and the falling rupee, and inflation will temper the price tags for sure. Triumph’s arrival in India will hammer the sales of already established brands including Harley-Davidson, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi. Speaking on the same, Paul Stroud, director sales & marketing (Triumph global) has stated “2013 is a very crucial year for Triumph Motorcycles in India and as a company, we are confident about the timing of our market entry. In the past few months, we have carefully assessed the market landscape and will be making well-honed efforts to provide our discerning customers with a complete brand experience.”
Vimal Sumbly, managing director, Triumph India has mentioned “I am delighted to have joined Triumph as the brand looks to embark on a well phased out strategy for the Indian market. Our commitment of developing truly iconic motorcycles that are distinctive in looks, design and performance remains ever-present. Soon Indian customers will be able to experience these category wining machines on Indian roads, as the brand looks to elevate the motorcycling paradigm.”
