TVS Akula 310 Revealed: Fully-faired Sibling of BMW G 310 R at Auto Expo

The fully-faired version of BMW G 310 R, has been showcased as the Akula 310 at the 2016 Auto Expo. The bike codenamed U69 earlier, looks stunning with its carbon-fiber fairing and sleek tail. Based on the G 310 R platform, this motorcycle features the same engine as its naked sibling. It gets a 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine that comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motor produces 33.6bhp at 9,000rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm. The bike can clock a top speed of 145kmph and returns a mileage of 30kmpl.
It gets a fully digital instrument cluster that provides ample information and comprises of a speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, mileage, average speed and distance to empty. The bike features inverted forks up front and mono shock absorber at the rear to carry out suspension duties. Stopping power is provided by dual disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). If and when launched in India, TVS U69 will give a tough competition to Yamaha R3 and KTM RC 390.
Engineered by BMW as the G 310 R, it will be manufactured in India at TVS’s Hosur plant owing to the BMW-TVS partnership in India. TVS has also showcased the recently launched Apache RTR 200 and Victor.
