TVS has unveiled the world’s first CNG scooter, the Jupiter CNG, at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. It is currently only in concept form.
CNG Tank
The Jupiter CNG has a 1.4kg CNG tank positioned in place of the under-seat storage space found in the standard Jupiter 125. To maintain functionality, TVS has covered the tank with a plastic panel, while still providing access to the pressure gauge and a filler nozzle. According to TVS, the scooter offers an impressive fuel economy of 84km/kg of CNG.
Petrol Tank
In addition to the CNG system, the scooter also comes equipped with a 2-litre capacity petrol fuel tank, mounted in the floorboard with the fuel filler cap integrated into the front apron - same as the conventional petrol powered Jupiter 125. This dual-fuel setup gives a total claimed range of 226km on a full tank of both CNG and petrol.
Engine
The Jupiter CNG is powered by a 124.8cc, single-cylinder engine that makes 7.2PS and 9.4Nm. The scooter has a claimed top speed of 80kmph. The standard Jupiter 125 makes 8.15PS and 10.5Nm.
Features
The TVS Jupiter CNG comes equipped with features like an LED headlight, a semi-digital instrument console, a side stand indicator, and engine inhibitors. Additionally, it gets TVS' intelliGO start-stop technology which increases the mileage.
Launch Details
TVS has confirmed that this is still a concept model with no confirmed launch timeline for the Indian market. After it is launched, it will be the world’s first CNG scooter and it will rival the Bajaj Freedom 125.
