The 110cc TVS scooter gets an ACG starter generator like the Honda Activa 6G for silent starts
- The Jupiter gets the option of a disc brake yet again.
- The ZX variant also gets an all-in-one ignition lock.
- It now costs Rs 3,950 more than ZX BS6 drum variant.
TVS has launched a new Jupiter BS6 ZX disc variant with i-Touch start system. It is priced at Rs 69,052 (ex-showroom Delhi), a premium of Rs 9,062 over the BS4 ZX disc variant. That’s also Rs 3,950 more than the Jupiter BS6 ZX Drum variant and just Rs 550 more than the top-spec Jupiter Classic variant. Besides a front disc brake, the 110cc scooter also gets two new features in the form of a ACG starter generator and an all-in-one ignition lock. When launched, none of the Jupiter BS6 variants got a disc brake and the Jupiter ZX is the first one to get it.
Like the Honda Activa 6G, the Jupiter now gets a starter generator instead of a starter motor. The ‘i-Touch’ ACG starter generator is connected directly to the crankshaft which removes the starting noise and offers an instant and silent starting operation. It also gets an all-in-one ignition lock from which you can now lock the ignition, handlebar, seat and fuel tank cap. Apart from the new features, the scooter gets all the equipment from the ZX variant like an LED headlamp, underseat USB charger, an external fuel filler cap, a 21-litre underseat storage bin and a 2-litre apron mounted glove box. Like the ZX, the new variant comes in three colours: Matte Starlight Blue, Starlight Blue and Royal Wine.
Power comes from a 110cc fuel-injected motor that delivers 7.47PS and 8.4Nm via a CVT gearbox. Suspension components include telescopic forks and preload adjustable monoshock. It gets 12-inch wheels with tubeless tyres. Along with the new front disc, the Jupiter ZX gets a rear drum with Sync braking.
The TVS Jupiter ZX Disc competes with the Honda Activa 6G. The ACG starter generator is a value addition which we reckon will soon be offered in other variants of the Jupiter soon.
