TVS XL100 Winner Edition Launched

Style meets functionality in this latest variant of the trusty old moped

The TVS XL100 moped is best known as a rural workhorse, usually sighted with a truckload of coconuts or vegetables miraculously fastened to the back of it. But it can clean up pretty good when it wants to. We already saw this with the Comfort variant introduced a couple of years ago, and now the Heavy Duty variant has also gotten dapper with the launch of this new Winner Edition. Officially called the XL100 HeavyDuty i-Touchstart Winner Edition, it is easily identifiable by its unique and exclusive navy blue colour scheme.

To further up the snazziness, TVS has given the Winner Edition chrome accents on the exhaust shield, round chrome mirrors and even a metal plate on the floorboard. The split seats get a lovely tan and beige dual-tone scheme with a quilted finish, and this being the Heavy Duty variant, the pillion seat can be removed to uncover a luggage rack. We must admit, TVS has done a fairly commendable job of beautifying a rather utilitarian vehicle. And it isn’t charging too much for its efforts either, because at Rs 49,599, the Winner Edition is only Rs 1,610 more expensive than the standard Heavy Duty variant.

Mechanically, it remains pretty much identical, powered by the same 99.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor producing a modest 4.35PS and 6.5Nm. Thanks to BS6 emission norms, the engine is now fuel-injected, and TVS has also thrown in a fuel reserve light, check engine light, and kill switch.
