First made-in-India electric superbike
Ultraviolette, the homegrown electric motorcycle manufacturer, has unveiled the ‘F99 Factory Racing Platform’, an electric superbike in India. The F99 was last showcased in EICMA 2023 as a concept and was then-hinted that it would be coming to India soon. They have now unveiled the F99 in India. Although, it's still a pre-production prototype. .
Alongwith the unveil, Ultraviolette has made some bold claims which they will achieve in the upcoming days. The F99 will, over the course of the next 90 days, aim to set the records for:
1. The highest top speed for an Indian motorcycle
2. The fastest quarter mile for an Indian motorcycle
The Ultraviolette F99 is completely made in India. The F99 is a proper superbike in terms of design. The F99 gets a full fairing with a razor-sharp front end. With angular design lines all over, the track-spec bike looks pretty aggressive. The rear end is swooped up and also has winglets. It also gets winglets and ducts on the front cowl and side panels. It has carbon fibre wheel covers too. The bike gets carbon fibre bodywork, an air shield which redirects the air-flow over the rider’s head when tucked in, a steel hybrid frame and an aluminium swingarm.
Suspension duties are taken care of by a premium gold-finished Ohlins inverted fork and a Ohlins monoshock suspension setup (both adjustable) and also gets a 120/70 R17 front and 180/55 R17 rear Metzeler Racetech slick tyres. With a kerb weight of just 178 kg, it is fast and light! It should also be able to shed speed effectively thanks to the dual front discs with Brembo radial callipers, and a rear skeletal disc (for maximum weight savings) with Brembo single-piston calliper.
While the company has not revealed the battery specifications of the F99 yet, they say that it makes 120PS, has a claimed top-speed of 265kmph and does the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3 seconds. For reference, the Kawasaki ZX-6R, which gets a 636cc liquid-cooled inline-4 engine producing 122PS does the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.47 seconds.
Ultraviolette is also going to make production models of the F99 which will arrive sometime next year and we expect it to be priced around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
