We have seen the upcoming electric scooter on multiple occasions before, albeit in prototype form. From the spy shots, we could make out a retro-looking front end that’s quite similar to scooters from Vespa. The rear gets more conventional-looking body panels, like the ones found on most 110cc scooters. It also gets modern features like an LED headlamp and LED tail lamp. Bajaj had earlier mentioned that it would focus on the premium end of the electric two-wheeler segment. Going by this statement, we expect the upcoming scooter to boast of features such as Bluetooth connectivity, a digital instrument console, geo-fencing, and more to take on its primary rival, the Ather 450.
While Bajaj has not revealed any technical details about the upcoming electric scooter, our sources within the company say that Bosch is closely involved with developing the electric powertrain for the electric scooter. The test mule spotted by our colleague seemed to reach speeds of upto 70kmph with ease. We expect Bajaj to equip the upcoming Chetak Chic electric scooter with a powerful BLDC electric motor and lightweight lithium-ion batteries. Bajaj is likely to price the upcoming scooter at around 1.1 lakh (on-road). Stay tuned for more info.
