After the recently launched Aprilia SR 150 scooter, Piaggio's next launch in India could be the Vespa GT S300 via CBU route.

The premium Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio recently launched the Aprilia SR150 in India. Now, it is planning to bring the Vespa GTS 300 next which is likely to arrive to our shores by the end of this year. Currently, the scooter is in homologation process and it is taking time due to lack of resources at ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India). As the GTS 300 is a lifestyle vehicle and not targeted towards the masses, the company is bringing the scooter in the country via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route instead of the CKD (Completely Knocked Down).

The GTS 300 is the flagship scooter from Vespa and the most powerful one as well. It sports a liquid-cooled, four-valve engine, mated to an automatic transmission and fed by an electronic fuel injection. The motor generates 22.3PS of power and delivers a peak torque of 22Nm, providing a top speed of 122kmph to the scooter. Fuel efficiency of the scooter has been claimed at 32.6kmpl and it has a tank capacity of 9.5 litre.

Suspension set-up of the Vespa GTS 300 comprises of dual-shock absorbers at the rear and a retro-styled bottom-link type unit up front. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes on both ends and it might also get ABS, as it is available in both standard and ABS trims in some other markets.
