Piaggio India has started accepting online bookings for the facelifted Vespa range. The Vespa VXL and SXL will be launched in 125cc and 150cc engine configurations. Vespa showcased its range of facelifted scooters at the Auto Expo in February this year. Apart from a new LED headlamp with integrated DRLs, the Vespas get new features like USB smartphone charging port and a boot light. While the scooters continue to use the same trailing arm front suspension as before, the rear monoshock now gets preload adjustability.

The scooters will feature BS6-compliant versions of the 125cc and 150cc air-cooled engines that are currently on offer. While Vespa has not officially released the specifications of the updated engines, sources say that the new motors will retain the same power output as their BS4 predecessors.

While the facelifted models’ prices are yet to be revealed, we expect a hike of around Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 over the current BS6 scooters. Piaggio had launched the Vespas with the older bodywork and fuel-injected BS6 compliant motors before the April 1 BS6 deadline. At the time, the scooters received a substantial price hike ranging between Rs 17,000 and Rs 19,000. With lockdown restrictions being eased across the country, Piaggio has resumed operations at its Baramati facility and seems to have begun production of the facelifted scooters. The facelifted Vespa range is expected to launch later this month.
