We list down the top five developments in the two-wheeler space in India from the last week
Hero MotoCorp seems to be stepping up its game for 2019. The brand has already launched three new bikes catering to different target audiences and has two more scooter launches in the pipeline in the form of the Maestro Edge 125 and the 2019 Pleasure. Suzuki and KTM, on the other hand, have plans of entering new segments to broaden their horizons. We also caught a glimpse of one of the mid-displacement bikes from CFMoto which will be launched in India pretty soon. Here’s all you need to know about the last week in case you missed out.
1. New bike launches from Hero MotoCorp:
Hero MotoCorp has launched three new budget-friendly bikes for the Indian market - the XPulse 200, XPulse 200T and the Xtreme 200S. The more off-road focused XPulse 200 is offered in both carb and fuel-injected variants priced at Rs 97,000 and 1.05 lakh respectively. Its road-biased sibling, the XPulse 200T gets a sticker price of Rs 94,000 while the fully faired Xtreme 200S is priced at Rs 98,500 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). All three bikes cater to different target audiences, and here’s everything you need to know about them.
2. Hero to launch two new scooters:
We weren’t kidding when we said Hero’s stepping up its game in the two-wheeler space in India. After launching three new bikes, the brand will be adding two new scooters to its portfolio on 13 May - the Maestro Edge 125 and the 2019 Pleasure. The Maestro Edge will be its flagship scooter, while the 2019 Pleasure will get a thorough aesthetic update and is likely to feature an updated engine as well. Head here for expected pricing and launch details.
3. Suzuki teases new two-wheeler:
The Japanese bikemaker has teased a new two-wheeler which will be launched on 20 May. Though the image released by Suzuki doesn’t disclose any details, we suspect the new two-wheeler to be the Gixxer 250. The international-spec Suzuki Gixxer 250 features LED lighting at both ends and premium upside down forks which could be offered in the India-spec model too. For more details, click here.
4. KTM RC 125 India launch timeline:
We were the first to spot the KTM RC 125 testing on Indian roads. While we expected the bike to be launched by late 2019, our sources suggest that the baby RC 125 will be launched earlier than expected. It will be powered by the same 124.7cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor seen on the KTM 125 Duke, capable of producing a maximum of 14.5PS of power and 12Nm of peak torque. 5. CFMoto 650GT:
We had earlier reported that Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer, CFMoto will be launching three new bikes in India next month. This includes the 300NK, 650NK and 650MT. The 400NK and the 650GT, on the other hand, were slated to be launched before Diwali this year. And now, recent developments suggest that the brand is staying true to its timeline and has already imported some of the bikes into the country. One of them is the 650GT which has been spied being unboxed. The sports tourer draws power from a 649.3cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine which is expected to produce 70PS and 62Nm of torque. Here’s everything you need to know about the Kawasaki Ninja 650 rival.
