Despite the nation going into lockdown over the last week, we still have some interesting news to bring you. Here are the most noteworthy happenings from the last 7 days:
BS6 Deadline Postponed!
The biggest news this week is that the implementation of compulsory BS6 emission standards has been postponed. The Supreme Court heard a plea from The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) and has granted an extension. However, things aren't quite as straightforward as they seem. Bikemakers Halt Production, Launches & Deliveries Delayed
With the nation under lockdown, the manufacturing sector has also ground to a halt. Motorcycles are no exception, with as many as six bikemakers halting production. Head here to know which ones are affected. Of course, with production having ground to a halt, it’s only logical that upcoming launches have also been postponed, and deliveries of new bikes delayed. But at least this time it’s not the manufacturer’s fault.
Royal Enfield BS4 Stock Sold Out
While most manufacturers and dealers are dreading the thought of being stuck with BS4 stock thanks to the lockdown, Royal Enfield has proudly announced that it has sold off all its BS4 stock, and now only BS6 bikes are being delivered to customers. For more details, head here.
TVS XL100 BS6 Launched
Despite everything going on, there was actually one new launch this week! The country’s most affordable motorised two-wheeler, the XL100 moped, was recently updated to BS6 standards.
