A week full of action that included new launches, BS6 updates and upcoming two-wheelers

We’ve been witnessing a number of new launches along with BS6 updates ever since manufacturers resumed operations across India post lockdown, and this week wasn’t any different. Here are the five most important new stories of the week.

1. TVS Scooty Zest 110 launch and price hikes

TVS has launched the BS6-compliant Scooty Zest in India in two variants: Matte Series and Himalayan High Series. It now features a fuel-injected 110cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 7.81PS and 8.8Nm, making it more powerful and torquey than the TVS Jupiter BS6. Head here for pricing and other details.

On a slightly different note, TVS has also hiked prices for the BS6 Jupiter and Apache RR 310. Click on the links for more information.

2. Ducati Panigale V2 incoming

The baby Panigale is almost here. Ducati dealerships have started accepting bookings for the supersport prior to its official launch. Interested customers can book the bike for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. More details here.

3. Vespa BS6 launched

Piaggio India has launched the facelifted Vespa VXL and SXL range. The updated models feature a full-LED headlamp with LED DRL, a USB charging port, and an underseat light for added convenience. The scooters also get a 4-step preload-adjustable rear shock absorber. Head here for more details.

4. Aprilia Storm 125 disc variant launched

The Aprilia Storm 125 is expected to drop the anchor sooner thanks to the introduction of a disc brake variant. However, this drives the cost of the scooter by a huge margin; Rs 23,000 more than the now discontinued BS4 drum brake variant.

5. Simple Energy Mark 2

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup Simple Energy has unveiled its first production scooter, the Mark 2. It's capable of topping out at around 100kmph with a staggering range of up to 260km (both claimed figures) on a single charge. There’s a lot more to the new e-scooter and you can read about it here
