A recent report from the Motorcycle Industry Association claimed that 14 per cent two-wheeler riders are women. Here in India, women are using two-wheelers at large scale and are not behind men. The women are riding on the scooters and motorcycles and now specially attracting towards bikes.
In the bike segment, Hero Honda CD Deluxe, Hero Honda CD Dawn and TVS Star are the most favourite bikes for Indian woman. Specially college going girls using the motorcycles in large number; they can be seen in metro cities of India riding their favourite bike.
The TVS Scooty, Hero Honda pleasure, Honda Activa, Mahindra Duro and Mahindra Rodeo, Honda Dio, Kinetic 4S etc. are the most popular scooters while TVS Wego is favourite of all age women such as girls, housewives and office going women. TVS and a few others develop scooters that are dedicated for ladies for example TVS Scooty range is particularly designed to suit women.
There is no official statics available in India but rough calculation suggests that bikes and scooters are attracting them. TVS also going to attract Indian women with its TVS Rockz with is the step-thru body type. The scooter cum bike will be launched in the first quarter of 2011. It is expected that it will get good response from Indian women.
