Xiaomi has launched the updated version of the QiCycle pedal-assisted foldable electric bicycle in China. It is priced at 2,999 Chinese Yuan, which is around Rs 30,500. This electric bicycle gets a 5.2Ah lithium-ion battery mounted inside the frame.

There are three modes: pedal only, electric assist and pure electric mode. Under pure electric, the bicycle can travel up to 40km under a full charge. The charging port is located just under the tail lamp and it takes about 3.5 hours to charge completely. The best part about pedal-assisted bicycles is that you have the assurance of pedal power in case you run out of juice. That said, there aren’t any gears in this bicycle, so it can go only as fast as you can pedal.

The frame is made out of CNC-machined aluminium alloy and the bicycle rides on 20-inch spoke wheels on both ends. There’s no suspension and it uses a traditional rim brake up front. The rear end appears to get a drum brake. In terms of features, the bicycle gets an LED headlamp mounted onto the frame, an electric horn and an LCD instrument console that’s neatly integrated into the handlebar. It shows details like speed, battery level, and warning lights.

In a related development, Xiaomi has also launched a foldable electric scooter, the Himo H1, which can be folded to fit inside a large bag! You can read all about it here.
