Yamaha recently updated the Bolt cruiser in Japan, with a few cosmetic updates to keep it fresh amongst the competition. The 2020 Yamaha Bolt looks quite swanky and is the perfect alternative to the Harley-Davidson Iron 883. Check out the nuances of this cruiser in detailed images:
To capture the fancy of a wider set of audience, the Yamaha Bolt is available in two variants: Standard and R spec. The standard model features old-school spoke wheels with tubed tyres and traditional twin rear shock absorbers, whereas the Bolt R comes with alloy wheels wrapped with tubeless tyres, gas-charged twin rear shock absorbers, exclusive subtle tank graphics, and a more premium seat cover. The standard variant costs an equivalent of Rs 6.95 lakh while the Bolt R will set you back by Rs 7.27 lakh.
The Yamaha Bolt comes with classic, no-nonsense styling. It gets a halogen headlamp and bulb-type indicators.
The old-school design is tempered by a new-age fully digital instrument cluster. It is quite minimalistic, showing only crucial details like speed, odometer and tripmeter readings. There’s also an engine immobiliser and a low-fuel light apart from other tell-tale lights.
The fuel tank capacity stands at 13 litres. Yamaha claims an impressive mileage of 21.2kmpl, ensuring a theoretical range of over 270km on a full tank.
At 69mm, the seat is a whopping 70mm lower than the Harley-Davidson Iron 883. That should ensure shorter riders can manage this 252kg motorcycle.
For optimum braking prowess, this motorcycle employs a 298mm petal disc on both ends with a dual-channel ABS as standard.
The cruiser is powered by a 941cc SOHC 4-valve, air-cooled fuel-injected V-twin engine, churning out 54PS at 5500rpm and a healthy 80Nm at just 3000rpm. The engine works in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission.
While the standard model gets non-adjustable traditional shock absorbers at the rear, the R variant gets gas-charged units that are adjustable for preload.
The cruiser rides on a large 19-inch front and a smaller 16-inch rear wheel. They are wrapped with 10-section rubber up front and 150-section at the rear. Both variants get the same tyre sizes.
