The Japanese auto manufacturer reveals EV plans for India
Yamaha has been planning on entering the EV segment in the Indian market for some time now. And, Eishin Chihana, Chairman, India Yamaha Motor, has recently confirmed that the company will be launching electric scooters in India by 2025.
Chihana also revealed that Yamaha is looking into ways that it could bring its electric scooters to Indian shores. This includes importing them as completely built-up units (CBU), as completely knocked down (CKD) units or even assembling it here with localised parts to make them more affordable.
Yamaha also says that currently, it is doing test runs and durability tests of its electric scooters in India, to end up with a reliable electric scooter that’s suited to our country’s unique road and weather conditions.
