The Japanese two-wheeler major, Yamaha had launched the SZ and SZ-X series bikes with the aim of filling the gap between their performance oriented FZ series and the long suffering commuters. The launch of FZ series had touched the right chords of the Indian consumer and the company was expecting the same success story to be repeated. But the newly launched SZ sisters lacked the disc brakes which may create a major problem, especially during monsoons.
Yamaha soon acknowledged this loss of disc brakes in SZ and SZ-X series and has now unveiled its plan of introducing discs to the SZ in the time period of less than two months. By doing this, the company has proved once again that it sticks to its promise of delivering the best to their customers. The new change will make the Yamaha SZ sisters safer and more popular among the bikers.
The new Yamaha SZ and SZ-x series will feature air-cooled engine type, 4-stroke, displacement 153 cc, bore and Stroke 58.0 × 57.9 mm , compression ratio 9.5:1. It will have the maximum power of 12.1PS / 7,500 rpm and the maximum torque of 12.8N.m / 4500 rpm along with an electric start system. The other features of the bike would include tranmission type 5 gear constant mesh, front brake Drum(150 mm) and rear brake Drum (130 mm). Yamaha SZ is expected to be priced at Rs. 49,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) while Yamaha SZ-X will come with the price tage of Rs 52, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
