Despite the increase in price, there are no changes to the motorcycles
For a moment there, we had a ray of hope that the onslaught of price hikes was finally over, unfortunately, Yamaha has given us an unpleasant surprise with yet another price increase. It’s quite sizeable too; prices of the popular FZ-Fi and FZS-Fi streetfighters have gone up by Rs 2,000 each. The full breakup is available below.
This isn’t the first time that these models have become dearer either. They were first launched in November last year at Rs 99,200 and Rs 1,01,200 respectively. Back in May, they saw an increase of Rs 500. Despite the roughly 2.5 percent increase in prices since their launch, the bikes themselves remain completely unchanged.
They are both powered by an air-cooled 155cc fuel-injected motor that is BS6 compliant and develops 12.4PS and 13.6Nm. Though they may be down on engine output compared to competition like the Suzuki Gixxer, the USP of the FZ range is its muscular styling and snazzy LED headlight. The extra cash you pay for the FZS goes towards a belly pan, different graphics and chrome inserts.
We hope this is the last of the FZ’s price hikes because any further increase will likely put it out of favour with buyers and push them towards more attractive propositions such as the recently launched Hero Xtreme 160R.
