Yamaha launches Updated Alpha, Ray and Ray Z; Now Returns 66 Kmpl

Yamaha Motor India has introduced its refreshed scooter range that includes Alpha, Ray and Ray Z, which will now come with Yamaha’s next generation “Blue Core” engine concept. The new 113cc, air-cooled engines deliver crisp throttle response & improved fuel economy and comes with some impressive changes like Nickel spark plug for enhanced combustion, new muffler setting and new BS carburetor & TPS setting. The Blue Core mills will ensure the benefits of an increase in combustion efficiency and increase in cooling efficiency with a considerable reduce in power loss. The company claims an improved mileage of 66kmpl for the scooters.

On the occasion, Mr. Roy Kurian, Vice President, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd stated, “We are eying around 10 percent share in the fast growing scooter market in India this year riding on our three scooter offerings. Currently, we have over 5 percent market share in the scooter segment, which is pegged at around 3 lakh units per month. The success of the Ray, Ray Z, and Alpha scooters are essential to Yamaha to realize its targets in the coming years. We are looking to place ourselves as a mass-market leader in India and scooters is certainly are main focus to be able to achieve this. Yamaha sees scooters contributing over 50 percent of its sales in the future. Currently, scooters constitute about 40 percent of our sales.”

Yamaha sells its three scooters in India namely Alpha, Ray and Ray Z. Yamaha Alpha made its entry at the 2014 Auto Expo while Yamaha Ray and Ray Z were launched in India in the year 2012 and 2013 respectively. Two new attractive colours have been added to the range, which are Gleaming Gold and Cyan Splash for Yamaha Alpha and Yamaha Ray Z respectively. The range is priced at Rs. 49,939 for Yamaha Alpha, Rs. 48,936 for Yamaha Ray Z and Rs. 47,805 for Yamaha Ray (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
