The hikes range between Rs 500 and Rs 1,000

The shift to BS6 emission norms has obviously hit manufacturers pretty hard, because most of them are continuing to hike prices of models even after their BS6 updates. Hero and Honda have both increased the costs of various models, and now Yamaha has hiked prices across nearly its entire small displacement range.

The entire 150cc range is affected: the R15 V3, MT-15, FZ-Fi and FZS-Fi have received an increment in price. The prices of all these models were hiked as recently as December last year. In addition to this, the new RayZR 125 scooter and its Street Rally variant have also gone up in cost, though the Fascino 125 has been spared. With a Rs 1,000 hike, the most badly hit is the Racing Blue colour of the R15, while the smallest hike is Rs 500 for multiple models. The FZ25 hasn’t received a price hike because it’s due for a BS6 update very soon.

Though the price increments at the time of launch of most Yamaha BS6 models seemed quite nominal, when combined with these other smaller periodic hikes, the overall increase in cost is quite sizeable. This is quite surprising since most of Yamaha’s lineup already featured fuel-injection and so a major rework wasn’t required at the time of switching to BS6.
