The colours are inspired by the YZF R6 and the YZF R1
Yamaha Indonesia has updated the R15 v3.0 for 2021 by introducing three new colours, similar to what Yamaha offers with the now-discontinued R6 and the flagship track scorcher, the YZF-R1. Interestingly, the paint jobs are somewhat like the ones launched in Malaysia for the R15.
The Metallic Blue paint scheme is straight off the R6. The R15 gets Yamaha’s racing blue shade with a flat grey tail, livery and front fender. Even the livery is inspired by the middleweight supersport.
The Matte Silver option, coupled with the fluoro yellow wheels, is similar to what Yamaha used to offer with the R6. The colour renders it a big bike look, in fact, this shade has also won a couple of awards in Indonesia.

Those who prefer a more stealthy look can opt for the Matte Black paint scheme with grey livery. Paired with the golden USD forks, the R15 certainly looks much closer to its bigger siblings. In case you haven’t seen the R15’s quirky part-scooter part-bike sibling, you might want to check out the F155’s image gallery.
No mechanical updates have been made to the 2021 model. It continues to use the same 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor producing 18.6PS and 14.1Nm. While the international model gets a USD fork, the Indian model gets telescopic units.
Right now, the R15 comes in Racing Blue, Thunder Grey, and Dark Knight paint options in India However, given that Yamaha recently launched as many as 11 colours for the MT-15, we are hopeful the Japanese manufacturer could do so with the R15 as well.
